One of the primary causes of "Pop Locks" is that your mail program is checking for mail too frequently. If you have several messages coming in or someone has sent you a very large file, the mail program may request to check your mail again before it is through downloading your messages from the original request. This will lock your "mail spool" at the server location.
Question: What can I do about Pop Locks and how can I help assure that it does not happen again?
Answer:
Well, first of all, we should change our settings on how often our mail
program checks for mail.
Microsoft Internet Mail (Comes with Microsoft Internet Explorer
3.x)
Outlook Express (Comes with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x)
Netscape Navigator Mail Program (Comes with Netscape Navigator 3.x)
Netscape Communicator 4.X (Netscape Message Center)
Then, if necessary, we should call technical support at BSC-Net to have our "Pop Lock" removed.
