Home Pages on BSC-Net

So you're thinking of putting up a home page on the world wide web?  You are aware that BSC-Net offers you up to 5 MB's of disk space on our server for your page with each subscription to our internet service and that we support Microsoft FrontPage Extensions, but you're not really sure how or where to start.

  1. Well, first of all, you should read up a little on "Hyper Text Markup Language" (HTML).
  2. E-mail BSC-Net and tell them to reserve, or set aside your page and give them your user name and password.
  3. Get Microsoft FrontPage 98, if at all possible.  You can purchase this program at a computer software store.   This will make your job so much easier.  If you can't see spending the money, then use a free program such as Netscape Composer, a pretty good W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. (What You See Is What You Get) which comes packaged in the Netscape Communicator Suite, versions 4.0 and higher.  If you can run a word processing program, you can build yourself an attractive web page.
  4. Download and install Winzip.   You will need this to unzip the compressed file WS_FTP.
  5. Then, download and install a good shareware program like like WS_FTP.

Now, you've got the tools to begin your page.  Do you still need some help?
